Loans are $500–$1,000, repaid over 90–150 days at APR 23%. Your exact schedule is shown before you sign.

A missed payment triggers a $45 NSF fee. Call 48 hours ahead to defer for $25 instead.

Repay your loan early at any time — no prepayment penalty. You only pay interest for the days held.

You may cancel within 2 business days of signing with no penalty in most provinces.

We do not report to credit bureaus — missed payments do not affect your credit score with us.

If you face financial difficulty, contact us. We use responsible collection practices and work with you first.

  • Hold an active Canadian bank account that has been open for at least 3 months
  • Have few or no non-sufficient fund (NSF) transactions on your bank account

Loan terms

Captain Cash offers personal installment loans on the following terms:

TermDetail
Loan amount$500 to $1,000 CAD
Repayment period90 to 150 days from disbursement
Annual Percentage Rate23% on all loans
Payment frequencyWeekly, bi-weekly, or monthly — aligned to your pay cycle
Disbursement methodInterac e-Transfer to your Canadian bank account
Transaction fee$0.50 per disbursement

Representative example

A $500 loan at APR 23% over 90–150 days results in a total repayment of approximately $750, inclusive of all interest and fees. Your exact schedule is shown in your loan agreement before you accept.

No obligation: You receive a complete loan agreement showing every scheduled payment and the total cost of borrowing before you are required to sign. You are under no obligation to accept.

3

Repayment

Repayment is made via pre-authorized debit (PAD) from the Canadian bank account registered in your application, on your pay dates as selected during the application process.

Changing your repayment date

If your pay date changes, contact us at least 5 business days in advance at 1-888-226-1026 or [email protected] and we will adjust your schedule accordingly.

Missed payments

If a scheduled payment cannot be processed due to insufficient funds, a $45 NSF fee will be applied and the missed payment rescheduled to the end of your contract. Missed payments do not affect your credit score — we do not report to credit bureaus.

Tip: If you anticipate difficulty with a scheduled payment, contact us at least 48 hours before the payment date to arrange a deferral for a $25 fee — far better than a $45 NSF charge.

4

Fees and charges

All fees applicable to your loan are disclosed in your loan agreement before you sign.

Fee typeAmount
Application feeNone — applying is always free
NSF fee$45 per returned payment
Deferral fee$25 per deferred payment (48-hour notice required)
Prepayment penaltyNone — repay early at any time for free
Transaction fee$0.50 per disbursement

No hidden fees. There are no administration, processing, or other fees beyond those listed above. The total cost of borrowing is displayed in your loan agreement before you accept.

5

Cancellation rights

In provinces where applicable legislation provides a cooling-off period (including Ontario and British Columbia), you have the right to cancel your loan agreement within 2 business days of signing without penalty or cost.

To cancel, contact us in writing within the applicable period:

  • Email: [email protected]
  • Phone: 1-888-226-1026
  • Mail: 1701 Hollis Street W. Suite 800, Halifax, NS B3J 2T9

If you cancel within the cooling-off period, you must return the full loan amount. No interest or fees will be charged.

6

Early repayment

You may repay the outstanding balance of your loan in full at any time prior to your scheduled final payment date. There is no prepayment penalty.

Early repayment reduces the total interest you pay — you are charged interest only for the days you hold the loan. To make an early repayment, contact us at 1-888-226-1026 or [email protected] to stop any scheduled automatic withdrawals before making your final payment.

Paying off your loan early never costs extra. You only pay interest for the days you actually held the funds.

7

Default and collections

Your loan is considered in default if you fail to make a scheduled payment and have not arranged a deferral. Upon default, the full outstanding balance becomes immediately due and payable.

Our collection approach

Captain Cash uses responsible collection practices in accordance with applicable provincial consumer protection legislation. We always contact you directly before escalating. Our first step is to reach a mutually agreed resolution.

Financial difficulty? Please contact us as early as possible at 1-888-226-1026. We would rather work with you than pursue formal collection.

Escalation process

If direct resolution attempts are unsuccessful, Captain Cash may terminate the payment plan, assign the account to a licensed collection agency, or pursue legal action to recover the outstanding balance. Captain Cash does not report to credit bureaus — however, accounts assigned to collection agencies may be subject to their reporting practices.

8

Renewals

Existing Captain Cash customers in good standing may be eligible to renew their loan after completing their current loan or during a grace period. Renewal eligibility is assessed at the time of application and is not guaranteed.

Returning customers who have successfully repaid a previous loan may also be eligible to apply using Employment Insurance (EI) as a qualifying income source. This option is not available to first-time applicants.

9

Interac e-Transfer disbursement

Approved loans are funded by Interac e-Transfer to the bank account registered in your application. If approved before 2:00 PM Eastern Time on a business day, funds are sent the same business day. Applications approved after 2:00 PM ET or on weekends are processed the next business day.

Captain Cash is not responsible for delays caused by your financial institution's processing times.

Payment processing entity: Repayments are collected via pre-authorized debit payable to [email protected]. Ensure this address is recognized by your bank to avoid returned payments.

10

Governing law and amendments

These terms are governed by the laws of Nova Scotia and applicable federal laws of Canada, including the Interest Act (Canada), Cost of Borrowing Regulations, and applicable provincial consumer protection legislation in your province of residence.

Captain Cash reserves the right to amend these terms from time to time. Any amendments will be posted to this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of our services following any amendment constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.
